Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick, D – City of Tonawanda, honored City of Tonawanda Police Officer David Ljiljanich with a proclamation for being named Citizen of the Month in April of 2021. Ljiljanich’s ceremony was postponed until the Legislature returned to in-person meetings on July 8th, 2021.
David Ljiljanich is a lifelong resident of Tonawanda and a graduate of Tonawanda High School who received a criminal justice degree from SUNY at Buffalo. A loving husband and dad of three, he was an active youth sports coach and a school resources officer. Detective Ljilijanich was injured in the line of duty in May of 2020 while responding to a possible homicide.
“I am honored to call David my friend and to know that we have fine individuals like him protecting the people of the City of Tonawanda. He has always been someone for our youth to look up to and all-around great guy. We’re all grateful and better for his service,” stated Legislator Hardwick.
